Applications
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The field of photonics is huge and applications can be found in virtually all technological industries. The long list of photonic applications grows practically by the day. Drawing such an extensive list is an imagination-defying task that once accomplished would just as soon become obsolete! Who would have ventured to predict the impact of early laser experimentation on telecommunications…
The photonics industry is generally subdivided as follows:
- Avionics, 3% in the province of Québec
- Electronics, 20% in the province of Québec
- Health, 5% in the province of Québec
- Industrial process control, 18% in the province of Québec
- Instrumentation, tests and measurements, 18% in the province of Québec
- Telecom, 36% in the province of Québec
